I worked from home yesterday, taking the new option from my firm which is much appreciated, and then got dressed formally for a client meeting the other side of town. Just as I was about to head out, I got a call from a colleague that the meeting had been cancelled so decided to make the outfit less corpo by wearing this funky crop top with fluted sleeves with the saree and headed out with my sister in law, who is visiting from Canada, and the husband who, very unusually, was working from home, for a quick weekday lunch.

This is another of amma’s sarees borrowed last year. It’s a very soft Venkatgiri cotton with touches of bright blue and gold near the border and ideally should be starched but I hate starched sarees so draped it around like my mom’s hug since I’m missing my mother immensely. The pendant is an intricately beaded one that my husband picked up on a trip to Malaysia.
