My saree posts seem to have yawning gaps between them!

Hosted a private screening today of the short film Invisible Wings, an inspiring true tale on Vijayan, a small tea-shop owner in Kerala. Vijayan’s dream and determination have been highlighted with maximum impact by stunning visuals and straight-from-the-heart dialogues, all put together by the team of Copybook Films, and directed by young talented film-maker Hari M Mohanan. Hari is currently in the midst of a cycling expedition of the country to screen the film and take it to as many people as he can meet on this tour. A short and sweet film of only 10 minutes duration, we screened it thrice today and had people of all ages including kids watching. Thrilled that my friends Usha Soman aunty and Smitha Nair came from far away especially to watch this film as they have been reading about it in the press for a while now. Hari will soon be in BLR and I hope my fellow sareepacters there will get to watch the film.

Vijayan, the simple tea-seller who travels the world, dreams big and achieves his goals despite his social and economic background, spreading the message that we can achieve anything we want, at any age, provided we set our minds to it, and pursue it with single-minded conviction and pursuit.

Coming back to the pic, one of my most favourite art forms typical to our country is Warli Art, and I’ve always wanted to own fabric and art with this style on it. This is one of my most recent splurges – a Tussar with Warli Art all over and in a striking white, red and of course black combination. Black tee, wooden earrings and silver bangles made up the rest of this hurriedly put together look. Thanks to my friend Vandana who readily clicked this pic after a long day! Almost thought I would not be able to get one.

Happy and satisfied that many things I enjoy came together today – meeting friends, Warli Art, an inspiring movie, and yes, my renewed love for sarees!!
