Amma is characterized by her righteousness, spirituality, knowledge and determination. She is the epitome of love for her grandchildren. Come what may, if her grandchildren want something- THEY GET IT. She is discipline personified for her daughter-in-laws. She is stable source of righteousness for her sons. In one word, she is the ‘Iron Lady’ of ‘The Mitras’….
For me, she is enigmatic…A multi-talented lady. Be it her spiritual intellect, social awareness, determination in nurturing her family, empathy for the deprived ones or her mouth-watering recipes, striking handiworks and popularity in the neighborhood, she was unbeatable in every arena.
Amma, my grandmother-in-law, wanted to see her granddaughter-in-law, but I was unfortunate enough not to be able to meet her. She passes away before I got married. But she is still alive within her off-shoots. This Sari pic is a tribute to her, as I wear her Sari for the Lakshmi Puja, that she started for our family.
