Ajey got selected for AFCEA fellowship award and internship for summer. We marked our calender and were looking forward to it. He was to meet his employer for the first time. Imagine – the first paid job, my son’s first “work”. I had already claimed my share from his first check. Yes, I had to remind my son that the first pay check is very important and should be USED properly. He didnt get any hint as he is “not interested in money” kind of kid. Every time I asked what will you do with the money he would say-” aeh, I dont know, its of little use for me anyways”. So one day finally I said you should buy little something for everyone in family. See, a mother has to teach her son this too. he said OK we will buy saree for you, a fine scotch for dad and whatever Anand wants. Now you know why I was waiting for that night smile emoticon
It was one of those days I wanted to be just Ajey’s mom, so when Anand decided to stay home I was OK with it. I was wondering what to wear and finally settled on an orange chiffon Saree. Once I walked in the room I realized I was the ONLY Indian woman there. After the social hour we went in the award room for dinner. one of the trustee of AFCEA was on our table and thats how the conversation started. About my Saree, How I looked happy in that attire and color. I am sure he was being modest but still I loved being there in saree and was at ease. Offcourse that one glass of Chardonnay was a big help too. So cheers to a saree, sareepact and son’s first money. Now I have to decide what kind of Saree I want to buy from that $1000.
