Banaras has always been a centre of attraction, be it in mythology, or in history or even in present day politics. Benaras itself is like a story. The famous ‘galis’ of Benaras is more mysterious than even bhool bhulaiya to me. Be it culture or religion or food Benaras has its own flavor. You have to be in Benaras to understand its glory. As I sit with my Banarasi babu, cladded in a banarasi saree, brought from Banaras, by my father-in-law, I feel like a true Banarasi Bahu. The sarees of Banaras needs no introduction, and I have many in my collection. Handpicked by my father-in-law (who has an amazing perception of sarees), however, this saree is a unique one. The bright magenta border, the bold motifs and the lovely texture of the saree has made this an irreplaceable part of my wardrobe.
