11/100. A WhatsApp text in the middle of the day from a university friend who was in town, and my Monday evening plans suddenly became about catching up over dinner at home. And then, in the midst of hurried texts about what her just-back-from-England tummy could handle, I get one that says – ” And sarees, right?”

It seems that #100sareepact posts kept showing up on her FB feed almost all of the two months she was out of the country and this had made her impatient to start her own countdown.

So, of course, sarees it had to be. For the first time in years, I came back from office, freshened up and wore a saree for a simple, at-home dinner with a friend.

My son could not believe that I had worn a sari even though we were not going out – and insisted on taking several pictures. And when my friend landed up looking lovely in gorgeous indigo printed cotton that made a pretty pair with my greyish-blue and maroon block-printed mul from Gurjari, he wanted to be part of of our ‘pact’ picture as well!

Thanks to the #100saree pact, a simple catch-up chat became a celebratory dinner. Here’s to more such celebrations!
