This will be a white/beige/cream/off-white week, I decided as I was setting my wardrobe right on Sunday afternoon….. I was taken aback by the number of sarees in the mentioned shades…. From Kolkota to Kanchipuram to Kerala.
White always reminds me of actress Sridevi in her ever present white outfit in the movies, at least once. She would even wear a white bindi and get away with it. An amazingly talented actress, who would have probably been the only woman in the Indian film industry to have completed 50 years career of acting, if she hadn’t just suddenly decided she has had enough. A contemporary of Kamalhassan (who incidentally completed 50 years career of Indian cinema a few years back), they made the best screen pair I have seen, so much so that, as a kid I believed they were actually married to each other. My dreams came crashing when he married Vani Ganapathy.
This one a Bengal Tant, purchased a couple of decades ago when I just started working. I have worn it several times with a variety of green blouses. It has been washed, starched, tortured and am amazed at the quality, still looks new…. Also maybe because I have not worn it as many times in the recent past. Seen here on the white wall of fame….
