#88 When we played housie as kids, we would call number ”88” as ”Two fat ladies.” 😀 While writing this number today, I went down my memory lane. I remember as a child, the moment my mother would change her saree or buy a new saree, I would immediately drape it over my frock in whatever manner I could. And it would make me feel so much like a grown up girl trying to adjust my pallu and pleats. 🙂 If saree was not available then I would pick my father’s lungi or my cousins duppatta and drape it around my tiny body and feel happy about it.
Whenever I would play games like ”ghar ghar” or ”teacher teacher”with my cousins, I would always chosse the role of a woman for the simple reason that I would get to drape the long piece of cloth around myself.
Life changed so much and with hectic schedules, I got more into practical dressing. Sarees were comfortably replaced by salwar suits and western outfits.
But, somewhere that little girl inside me likes to dress up the same way. So whenever there is opportunity, I don’t miss a single chance to get myself again wrapped in those lovely 6yards. Festivals and weddings are such occasions where I get myself into sarees and doll up well.
This saree is a repeat on the pact and I wear it often otherwise also. Love the colour combination of this saree. It’s a mangalgiri silk which was given 20years back in my roka by my in-laws.
