This year ‘Adhik Mass’ is observed during the period of 17th June to 16th July. The lunar calendar adds one extra month every third year. This extra month is known by various names: Adhik Mass, Mal Maas,Purushottam Mass.
All the main Hindu months have a deity attached to them, but no one agreed to be the governing God of Mal (unclean) Maas or the extra month. This is when Lord Vishnu decided to assign Adhik Maas to himself. That is why it is known as the Purushottam Maas.
During the period of Purushottam mass, people perform various types of religious rituals such as fasting, bhagwat saptah, recitation of religious scriptures, chanting mantras & prayers, and performing various types of puja’s & havans.

So, here I am! Attending one such event in my Bangalore Silk saree gifted by Milind, my husband few years ago. That’s the beauty of resham weaving, its evergreen! I love this for its colour and softness and it goes very well with the rainy weather. I teamed it with delicate pearls and gold chain and similar bangles.
