A Bengali pujo saree in silk… From my Bengali saree wala. My sister in law Raji and I picked similar ones, she took a mustard yellow one and I picked the red bordered one. The earrings are made with paper quilling. Really light and an amazing piece and a perfect match for my saree!! Calcutta can’t be complete without a picture of the Maa Kaali. This is by the entrance of my home. I remember my visit to Kolkota after coming from Bhutan, a couple of years ago… It was so hot and humid and the air was so thick, I almost fainted trying to get into the Kaali temple. Completely dehydrated, took a rain check to visit her later…..
Cut to the Shakti forces back home…. Kids say the funniest things and they have this great ability to link random things and make it sound like the most sensible and obvious!! And we are taught Linking as a concept in the corporate world! Ironical! If only we could set our minds free as well…..
She was very curious about all the posters of Save the girl child, she is a kid etc… So hubby was explaining the dowry system, why it came about, how it was misused, people not sending girl children to school etc……detailing only what a kid needs to know…
That night, my hubby was telling my daughter to go to bed as it was past 9.00pm and she quips, “why don’t you please give the girl child her freedom?”….
Sending us into peals of laughter!!!
