#100sareepact Saree #29

Wore this lovely cotton saree with a rangoli design to Valley School last week, for the new year orientation. Our little fellow starts his Valley journey and our older one moves to middle school this year. The Valley School has become such a core part of our lives now. So much more than a school. Every time I visit the school, I feel like am coming back home.

Set in a forest of over 100 acres, it is the most peaceful place that one can be in. No manicured lawns or paved pathways here, it is simply nature at its best. There’s a peaceful co-existence with nature. Because of the dense forest surrounding it, wild animals do stray in at times, but the ingenious ways in which the school handles it is amazing! Children are taught to not just take care of their environment, but give back as well. Every year for the school’s birthday (which is a beautiful ceremony), the outgoing 10th standard students plants tree saplings, leaving their mark on the school forever. This annual tradition keeps adding to the already dense forest around. While there is rampant tree cutting elsewhere, the school, in its humble way, replenishes some of the loss.

Choosing this school meant having to move from a comfortable setting to a new locality, leaving our friends behind. But we’ve gained so much more in return….some amazing times and friends for life!
