#100sareepact Saree # 26

What a wonderful birthday it has been! One of the best in recent times! Received so much of love and affection that am overwhelmed. A lazy, self indulgent day with a nice massage and some amazing time with friends and family, all topped off with a fantastic dinner, I couldn’t ask for more.

This is a saree I’ve been waiting to wear since nearly 5 months, a soft silk in some of my favorite colours. Love at first sight! Was a bit hesitant at first as I’ve never worn any large border sarees, but the colour combination was too much to resist! And the Jhumkas, are from Nag. Must have been the fastest jewellery shopping in history! Home to store and back in less than an hour!!

Though am on a minimalist path, my darling friends and family aren’t conforming to it (thankfully?). the gifts started pouring in a week in advance. I seem to be becoming synonymous with the saree pact as most of the gifts I received were all related to the Saree. Sarees as gifts from Arthi and Uma,, a lovely book with the Saree as the central theme from my dearest friends, Kaushal, Sowmya and Ruchi and the totally gorgeous Jhumkas from Nag, to go with my birthday saree ; not just the gifts, even the wishes were mostly saree related. This makes me so happy, as my objective of joining the pact was to make the saree an everyday (well, almost) affair so that my daughter doesn’t think of it as occasion wear only, and I seem to be succeeding 🙂
