Day 26. While the rest of the city stays home, willingly or unwillingly, I get ready for work. This printed cotton originally belonged to Ma. She had asked a colleague to get it for her on a Delhi trip. I paired it today with one of those blouses that have no sari to call their own. The blouse piece was a gift from a cousin of my husband’s who keeps showering me and my sister-in-law with gifts every time we meet. The wooden bangle is also a gift from her. The neckpiece is a strand of sandalwood beads. On our last holiday down south in November, we picked three of these from Srirangapatna…one each for my Ma and my mother-in-law and one for me. Mine is a gift from my husband and is actually a tasbi. The earrings are terracotta, shaped like a “kulo’.
