Day 20. A bright beginning to the new year. If it’s Poila Baisakh, it has to be a new sari. Bought this from my aunt (Keya Mami) Chaitali Dasgupta’s boutique…. Actually no…the story goes like this… I was in two minds about buying a sari when my Mami Madhumoni Dasgupta pointed this out and I was very enticed. I was also checking out a smart green striped sari and couldn’t decide between the two. Then Ma Jhulan Bhattacharya decided to buy this blue sari for a change. “I have too many greens,” she said. So it was decided. She took the blue one and I got the green one. A couple of days later, Ma was no longer sure she wanted the blue one and I grabbed the opportunity. So she got back her green and me my blue. A case of all’s well that ends well:-) A perfectly happy ending for a happy new year.
But wait how can I end my post without writing about my best friends? My accessories… the blouse piece was picked up from this mini treasure trove I have discovered in our good ol’ graam (village) Garia, thanks to my colleague and para mate. Long live Gouranga Fashion! What’s in a name? Stitched in record time by my loyal Park Circus tailor who I have been going to since school. The jura pin is a gift I extorted from Ma (not that she needed much cajoling) on a visit to Sasha. The earrings are a gift from my sister-in-law Sarmistha Sarcar. I had liked them but resisted from buying. She noticed and bought it for me the next day:-) The neckpiece is my mother’s. Shubho Noboborsho everyone:-)
