I was inspired by one of our #100sareepact sister’s blog post yesterday that said, “Wearing a saree during a presentation gives you extra confidence”. In preparation for two work presentations this morning, I decided last night that it was now or never. 3/100 just really needed to happen today. After an hour of practicing my newly learned saree draping skills, I felt ready to conquer the world. (And yes, in case you were wondering, I also practiced my presentation topics!) I woke up this morning feeling ready to go except for that very scary and nagging feeling of … what will happen if my saree pleats slip and the whole thing comes undone in front of my work colleagues? –Sure, many of us use safety pins, but if you’ve ever tried to secure a typical Karnataka style silk saree — you need a jumbo sized pin to go through all of the pleats in the front. And, it is no guarantee that the pin will hold. Finally, the solution came to me and it really worked! With this secret tool, I not only made it through an entire work day but I also made it through a flight from Bangalore to Delhi tonight crawling into an airplane seat by the window, wheeling my suitcase, briefcase and purse through the airport and even climbing up into the backseat of an SUV taxi. Everything stayed exactly where it needed to stay 🙂
