Akshaya Trithiya, a day which is auspicious to start any venture. I stretched it a little bit and wore a new saree, Dhaka cotton. Purchased from my saree wala, who has been bringing sarees home for a while now. Nothing like shopping at home. Relaxed, over a cup of tea, complete focused attention of the sales person! Adhirji is Hilarious! Speaks Kannada quite fluently, but insists on talking in his Bengali accented Hindi, sending me into fits of laughter, not that my Hindi is any better!! Laced with a strong Tamilians, Kannadiga accent, we sometimes say the same things without understanding each other!! Religiously he will call every quarter, and I will tell him I don’t need any more sarees. His quip is, who asked you for money. I got this color, texture, type, design, whatever only for you! Am sure he says that to all his Didis… My daughter calls our conversations comedy shows!! I admire his doggedness in conducting his business. Lugging that huge mootai or bundle, unpacking and re-packing…… All with a constant smile and cheer. These people are the true promoters of our handloom industry. Kudos!
