Mom Vatsala in a purple printed silk, again another gift from her generous sister Vasanthi. A very light weight and easy to wear anywhere type of saree, even for a summer evening, it can hold good. It has a thin-edged border which is quite appealing.
Although I am biased and believe that my Mom looks good in anything, bright colours do suit her very well.
How the Universe connects thoughts and hearts sometimes even without our knowledge – since it is all oh-so-subtle – is mind blowing if you think about it. Mom wore this saree to a memorial service of a dearmost friend she was extremely close to. Ironically, the friend has probably not seen this particular saree in person, only in a photograph and simply loved the saree. Mom was not aware of this when she picked this saree to wear to the memorial. And yet this is the saree she wore that day! Amazing isn’t it?!
We met some amazing people who hosted the memorial at the Baha’i Centre and are always indebted to them for their kindness and affection. It was a very emotional experience which they sweetened with all their efforts. Including a pic of some of the wonderful people who were present that hot summer Sunday who came together to pray for a soul that they had not met, at least in this life. The cute li’l twin brothers in yellow Tshirts rendered a prayer that was closest to the heart of the one we were all praying for. Another coincidence by the Universe. The memorial service was held on the date that also happens to be my parents’ wedding anniversary date. A third coincidence?
Then again, they say there are no coincidences and that everything happens for a reason.
Adding a few more pics of that unique day and experience. The last one is a happy memory of meeting Dr.Shobha Nagarakere Ramalingaiah, an Ayurvedic practitioner we met at Swasara, a fabulous resort at Gokarna. She was visiting Chennai with her mother and we all went shopping. Not sarees, though!
