A simple printed silk saree that I had bought when Prashanti Sarees opened their outlet here in Bangalore. It was exciting for me because it was close to where I lived and also I would pass by the place most days. I fell in love with the old bungalow they had their store in. I would spend more time in their garden drooling over the old huge trees, the flowers that would be in abundance and the huge open space around the quaint old house. The lady in the store was the sweetest I can say. As a South Indian I owned very traditional Sarees mostly n when I saw this printed silk with a border attached I was very hooked. Because until then only naaarrth Indians wore such Sarees. And here it was right under my nose. So I went ahead quickly bought this along with another beautiful silk cotton. And have never stopped since then.. (Those lace type Sarees I meant)
Thanks to my wonderful friend and partner in saree buying crime Meenu . I learnt it is not called border but ‘LACE’ and that one can buy gorgeous stuff n make simple Sarees beautiful. Today being a festival got me wearing a saree and posing also with the right ‘teenage boy’s’ props because holiday no? So everything stays where it is.. Sigh!
