A dark blue and black synthetic saree that feels so light that it is perfect for summer. The yin-yang pendant is my pet favourite as it currently represents my state of mind/ outlook on life. It was a gift from my sister. The fact that it resembles an ‘S’ is an added bonus

Now, for the story behind the saree.

This belonged to my maternal aunt- a woman so wonderful, so capable of immense love, a culinary expert of the highest order and one of my most favourite people in the world. She could not have children of her own and when I was born, my parents gave her the honour of choosing my name. She is the one who picked my name and it is one I wear with love and joy.

Last March, she passed away and I cling to this drape as it reminds me of her- the softness mirroring her character. My biggest regret is that I could not see her for almost four months up to the time she passed away- a fact that will haunt me for a long, long time. Ever since, I have attempted to make time for the people in my life. Then, last Friday, on her birthday, she appeared to me in a dream, laughing, joking, hale and hearty. I am glad she is in a better place now. Love you so very much, Atthai. This one is for you
