Rangit : the name of a river I just met in Kalimpong… or Rangita ? Either name suits this blushing beauty of a sari again from Kaushiki’s!

She came to me with the blue and pink appliquéd Alpana, via a loving sis Bandana Dutta. I didn’t even buy them myself! Rangita is a Dhonekhali cotton with some off-white Kota Doria sewn at the pleats part, with white embroidery which sets off the whole Old Bengali scripted red sari. There are little Suns and auspicious dolls, as drawn on the Lakhsmi ghat, too. I like the odd combination of golden and light purple strips on the border, and the sheer lightness and understated elegance of the outfit. Don’t miss the scalloped inner lining in the blouse back! My tailor! He’s something….
With a Bulaggi purse and some folksy tribalesque beads I’m off for a birthday party of dear friend Indrani Ghosal. Pics : Subroto Roy Somir Ghosal.
