I have never enjoyed a holiday so much . Finally the day off for Diwali , the only day I get this year as I have been working on all the other days . Some weeks are just so crowded with back to back stuff . But today packed with simply so much fun was one crazy , whacky day . A brand new Leheria I had bought months ago but was wary about wearing as I have put on some weight these past few months ( not having been walking regularly because of the fractured foot ) .But I thought the movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo merited this colorful drape . In keeping with the film’s milieu? It is rare to find simple and unembellished leheriyas as it seems to be the fashion and style to have a lot of Zari and Gota work done on them with heavy borders and stuff . I had asked my friend at Pitambari to source me some nice ones a long time ago and a few months earlier she had indeed got me a couple in amazing colors and here’s one of those . So it was First Day First Show with hubby and dear friends Ektaa and Abhishek who had booked the tickets and what a treat it is to be pampered like this . No matter what , the thrill of seeing a film in the theater excites me still like nothing else and I swear I was panicking oh we’ll be late Chalo Chalo !!!Online booking and tickets on your device and these new fangled props in today’s movie theaters are something else but I still miss the charm of the old fashioned single theatre with lots and lots of big posters of the films and you know what I mean !And yes we looked high and low for a poster of the film to take pictures and were disappointed to find none ( well one we did find one real high up somewhere and one tiny one somewhere ) . However that was not to deter us and there was much fooling around taking many pictures which of course you will all have to bear with !!
Then a long leisurely lunch at Hard Rock Cafe next door and the mandatory picture with the mandatory LIT . I love HRC not just for the LIT and the great food but for the wonderful people who take care of you there . Percy , Vasim , Sumeet , Franky , Ralph , Moses and so many other fine young men who have made HRC the most welcoming waterhole ever !
We were not done with PRDP for we after lunch we accompanied the incredibly talented Swara Bhaskar for a preview at Yash Raj films where a natty looking Neil N Mukesh , a glowing Sonam and proud dad Anil Kapoor and an energetic Deepak Dobriyal with happy director Sooraj Barjatya welcomed guests . I loved the film . Salman Khan is amazing and his persona simply spills over out of the screen and envelops your consciousness . Post interval I think the director loses the plot for a bit but his hero does a rescue act and puts the film back on track .
The day ended with coffee with buddy Jude who could not join us for the film . We of course had to catch up and fill him in with all the details . Some gems of love indeed . Blessed are we who have family and friends . Celebrate them I say . They are our wealth .
