Day 13/100 – Friendships and Gifts!

I read this on a friends timeline – “Fact of life: when you meet a school friend after 25 years, the intervening years just don’t count. You lapse into the same giggles, silliness and easy camaraderie. But there’s also understanding and wisdom which makes the friendship all the more precious!” – Anita Rao Kashi.
And I immediately thought of my dear friend Lakshmi Nair…at least the bit about the camaraderia, understanding and wisdom wink emoticon. Lakshmi and I went to college together and I used to really enjoy her wit and jokes. But post college we just lost touch till a few years courtesy facebook we realised we had an apartment in the same complex.
Office visits to Chennai by me and sorting rental property visits to Bangalore by her meant we met ever so frequently and now I have become all the more fond of her. Advaith, her son is the only person I know who can put me at a loss of words with his logical questions. I have this corner lamp shade in my house which is 3 squares of handmade paper with some bamboo wiring on top. 1st time we met, all of 6 years, he looks at it and asks me – how will you change the bulb if it fuses – something I hadnt thought of when I bought that fancy piece!!!!
I saw Monika Manchanda wear a lovely lilac border Kasavu and immediately fell in love with it. I just mentioned to Lakshmi that I wanted something like that and asked if there was any special name for it because I had only seen the golden border ones, and next things I know, I received this gift from her smile emoticon
Accessorized this with gifts – the bracelet from Vasudha Gulati and earrings which Sujatha Rao had gifted me on my birthday.
Even the footwear is a gift. From as far as I can remember, I could never visit my aunt Manjeet Kandhari’s house and not be handed a gift. When I landed suddenly one time about 2 years back, guess she didnt have time to go shopping, but she couldnt send me empty handed so gave me this beautfiul cream footwear which I think she had bought for herself. I am fortunate – we share the same shoe size smile emoticon
