My first ever Kalamkari . Saw it . Loved it . Asked for 5 and 1/2 meters from the “thaan” without a second thought ! I had already visualised the coarse yet soft cotton draped around me . And the blouse and the whole look and this morning as I wrapped it around me was not disappointed .

Vicky my dear , I owe you a lifetime of whatever you ask of me for unearthing Singhanias on Jubiliee Hills and their “just now arrived in shop Madam” stash of the Kalamkaris we stumbled upon ! Owe you big time .

Today has been one long Saturday and I must say the Saree has withstood the many activities its wearer undertook . And very special ones too.

First stop en route to Goregaon at Powai Lake to take the PPP “Posed Pact Photograph ” . Azim at his manipulative best .

Ram Mandir at Bangur Nagar then to attend my friend and colleague Vijaya’s parents’ 50th wedding anniversary which the amazing couple and children dedicated to Chai for Cancer . All the gifts they received were directed towards the cause of Friends of Max, the Trust I head . No words with which to acknowledge this act of generosity . The most touching moment ? When the Shashtrigal , the Priests who presided over the ceremonies came up with their own contribution nestled in the ceremonial plate . And one of the gentlemen saying , Usually we are eager for all this speechifying to get over fast, but this time . I did not want you to stop.

From Goregaon then , after this amazing morning it was to Juhu and Prithvi and the Tata Lit Fest to be with good friend Amit Vaidya who has written this book on his experience with Cancer and how he sought and found the healing he needed . Holy Cancer , his book is called . ” Health is what we have till we fall sick . It’s just that we don’t know we have it till the time we lose it.”
After the session we sit together in the mild and muted sunlight sipping chai and agreeing that the key to good health , at least what’s in our hands is ” eat local, seasonal and fresh and in moderation ” .

And I run into young Saroja wearing a stunning black and white Ikkat Saree and she says no no it’s not a Saree , I bought it off the bale , all 5 meters of it and we say oh kindred souls and ask the first guy standing next to us to take a picture !!!

Then its time to go get that Weekend Stash of Rye Bread and the Coffee Break with the White Coated Sage and we are joined by the the Tardy Yogi so called for he makes us wait , young Abhishek and then when the Yogi declares this is the best Saree in the pact ever , the Sage says hmmm yes , the Siren in the Saree !!

I forgive him for he gifts me the Tee he has saved specially for me for it says VIGITHON …

And then we all walk down to OMO that Mecca of exclusive stuff , run into the lovely Arti who wields her own magic within and then pose for the last of the pact pictures and a Super Saturday draws to a satisfactory end !!
