In your words and I quote “I did this, because the three most important women in my life were wearing six yards.”

“Mumma’s love for sarees is no secret in our house. Over time, her love for sarees has silently crept its way into Vani and my hearts – with our confused appreciation for Maheshwaris (or are they Chanderis?), and Vani’s never-ending dilemma between ‘chiffons and georgettes’. The colourful glee that fills our eyes on setting foot in a saree shop is perhaps one of those few things, that our three distinct, even divergent, personalities still share.

But in my eyes, the #100SareePact has gone beyond that in our lives. It has brought out the most creative and vibrant side of the most special woman in our lives – brought hidden talents like writing, which we didn’t even know our Mumma indulged in, leave alone enjoyed! It has shown us how commitment to things we enjoy makes things a lot easier – a hundred sarees is a mean feat for someone like her, for whom every six yards is no less than a celebration, much cherished and worn so far and infrequently in between! But above all, it is the warmth and nurturing care that every beautiful, unique and distinguished pacter transmits across lands and seas to make this pact the beautiful relationship it is – no less than a Sisterhood.

Of Travelling Sarees, of course!”

My saree is a Kanjeevaram from Kumaran Silks, Chennai and came as a gift 18years ago from my father-in-law. Hita is wearing silk saree from my wedding trousseau and Vani is in Benarasi saree from Benzer, which Milind bought me few years back.
