A dozen sarees done on the pact and so many more to go! #12 a green silk saree aligned to the color of the day. I do not know its weave origins or details on its make, but it is a pretty one and has its own little tale to tell.

So my sis was looking for a saree to wear for a small ritual before my niece was born. The saree she was told should be green and should have some jari on it. She did not want to wear any heavy traditional sarees at that time so was looking for something light, something fresh and something different. With her limited mobility at that time, and online shopping just a dream (this is about 19 years back) she checked many different options but did not find a saree that met her specs. So she finally handed over the task of finding the saree to me. Of course, with clear specs – it should have just a hint of jari, it should be light and easy to drape, it should be fresh green color, not common…..

Wonder of wonders that I did find the right saree, and she loved it 🙂 I call it her Liril saree – it had the freshness that comes through the Liril ad that I grew up watching in every commercial break in my younger days!

The sari weave has a crisscross of vertical and horizontal lines that create a small checked patterns and gives a very nice look and feel. A broad white design along the border and pallu adds to the fresh look of the light green color. A small jari design lines the border, marking its presence but not flaunting its shimmer. A super thin and super light saree with a smooth and soft feel that caresses!

After all these years I picked it from the treasure trove of sarees lying in my Mom’s house, and that’s a story I will share later on the pact – of the saree treasure hunt my sis I recently went through!

Draping this today on my sister’s request, and pairing it with a delicate neckpiece made with glass beads, a gift from a dear colleague and friend, @Priti Madhave.
