Saree # 10
Dated September 17, 2015
Occasion: Ganesh Chaturthi
Saree story: My 1st kalamkari (print) saree, received on auspicious occasion of Gauri Puja and I wore it next day on her son Ganesha’s big day, Ganesh Chaturthi.
The story printed on this saree is based on Forest theme, history of which is written on 2 pages in Telugu language and that also came along with this saree. As I do not understand that language, my Telugu friend cum neighbor will help me to comprehend the same. Then I will update my saree story here also.
It came all the way from Hyderabad to Gurgaon via courier service. The person I bought this saree from is someone I’m in contact with for many months now. While exchanging my interest with her online on color combination and the theme I’d like on my kalamkari saree, I got to learn some new Tamil words also from her.
Now, I can see I have 12 new words/statements saved in a file that I’ve started to maintain to learn Tamil, that shows we both had a good number of conversations exchanged so far.
It’s said that to learn a new language is to gain a new soul. Overall, I’m happy with a couple of ‘New’ that I gained here…found a new styled saree for myself from someone who helped me with a new language and found a well-wishing friend always in her.
