Around a year ago,I had just bought myself a smart phone and was trying to get used to it when Hubby thought it was now time for me to graduate from my desktop and get connected via my phone. He took my phone and generously installed all the Apps without which our life is unimaginable now. That included the newly launched whatsapp.
I quickly started adding friends and family to my contact list and my online zindagi had taken a 360 degree turn. One day I received photographs of Kalamkari duppattas from an unknown number. The shopoholic in me couldn’t resist a conversation.
Me: Who are you?
Stranger: I am a Kalamkari artist mam.
Me: From where?
Stranger: From Srikalahasti Mam
Next question logically should have been to ask where the hell did you get my number but out came…

Do you have sarees..?
Yes mam.

Send me pictures.
Yes mam.

When the pictures started pouring in l was amazed and spoilt for choice. He told me since he was an artist he would give me good rates.
After much discussion. ..finally I zeroed in on this beautiful black cotton one.
He gave me his account details and it was only after I had deposited the money that it dawned on me whether I had made a mistake. How could I trust a person simply by talking to him on WhatsApp. That is when I thought of asking him where he had got my number . He told me the name of a site where I had generated a query for a Kalamkari saree.
Anyways after about ten odd days the package reached me crossing several state borders. I was super delighted when I felt and laid my eyes on the workmanship. This is my first saree directly from an artist and I am so proud of the fact that I trusted a complete stranger and he turned out to be a genuine artist.
Moral of the story: Zindagi online ho gayi hai to kya hai…duniya paas aa rahi hai…dost badh rahe hai…khushiyan badh rahi hai
