A Kanchipuram Cotton in tantalising shades of brown with an attractive jari weave in the broad border. The body has fine horizontal stripes and even though narrow borders have become more fashionable , there is no denying the elegance of the broad ones. And my sister Raji Muthukrishnan with her unerring eye picked this “will never go out of style” Saree and gifted it to me a couple of years ago. I wear it with a brown and gold Bijouri that somehow has become the perfect match for this Saree. Somehow , brown is a colour I rarely wear and then when I wear this Saree I always wonder why ?
It was a busy evening after work yesterday and as is my custom on days like this I changed at work . Getting dressed at work is never the same as getting ready for a something from home . My hair especially is a challenge for ever since I have worn it short I am not happy to have it look messy . But somethings are not in your hands all the time . Love the Saree and blouse and know they can distract attention from not so perfect hair. The day was anyway already special for a dear friend had sent to me a book I dearly have been waiting to hold in my hands ; the last of Amitav Ghosh’s trilogy. Makes a good picture too, in sync with the colours I am wearing . Thank you Vijaya Sundaram for taking the Pact Pictures ! You join a select group .
So the evening began with a long two hour drive to Vasai to be with Sharon Donald Gonsalves and Donald R. Gonsalves as they celebrated their Theo’s first birthday . The little fellow was winning everyone’s heart from the moment he was born and this evening he was no different . Thiago, God’s Warrior. Bless you little soldier . May you win all your battles.
My evening was actually very ambitious for after Vasai I had plans to join Srishti Sawhney and Gang at this fun evening she had planned at home . It meant going home that night like this : Worli, Vasai, Bandra and then Thane …wrap your mind around that route and if you give up I don’t blame you for I did too and told SS I could not make it .
But then at some point in time I decided I could do it and after Theo’s party decided to hit the Western Express instead of Ghodbunder Road .
Collided into Abhishek and Ektaa on my way into Kismet and one look at my brown Saree they were like Oh they are not going to let you in …you are supposed to be wearing green and white!!! Tonight’s party colours . Now I wasn’t going to have all that cross country criss crossing go in vain and have my Saree held against me and in between me and the party . Green and white right ?
So I did go to the party wearing green and white alright . Behind my ear as you can see.
And one nice shrub in the garden was short of a spray of new green and white leaves smile emoticon
