Attended a friend’s wedding wearing this breathtaking Benarasi which is a part of my wedding trousseau. This is the only Benarasi in my trousseau, even though I am from Benaras.
A large part of my trousseau is still untouched as I got married about one and a half years back, and have about 50 sarees. This one caught my eye, while choosing what to wear for the wedding, because of its lovely colour combination. The contrast of the soothing brilliant sky blue with a deep magenta is so lovely that even though the saree is plain, it looks grand and regal. And the fact that blue is my favourite colour, doesn’t hurt either 🙂
I grew up watching my beautiful mother wearing resplendent Benarasi sarees for functions and always dreamt of wearing one someday. This saree was, in a way, the fulfilment of that dream I had harboured as a child; of owning and wearing my own Benarasi. I guess I have grown up 🙂
