“Why are you paying so much for this crumbled saree” was the innocent question asked by my hubby unaware of the fact that all bandhej clothes look like that before we make it wearable by untying the knots and pressing them! A funny memory associated with this saree which still brings a smile on my face… While roaming around at Jaipur, I enquired our taxiwala, where would he take us for shopping…he retorted saying “Lal saand ka raasta”.. A giggle erupted out of me…hearing the word “saand” as in Hindi it means “bull” that too ” laal” which means red!

Jokes apart… It was our 20th wedding anniversary in 2010 which we decided to celebrate at Jaipur… Without a saree shopping how can the trip be complete? Speciality of Jaipur being Bandhej I decided to concentrate on exclusive bandhej sarees and as usual without much search I laid my hands on this saree…it continues to be the most preferred one to attend some small functions during the summer months. A red green combo… Crepe silk saree with embroidered golden flowers all over! Wanted to wear this on teej, any way, better late than never…eh?
