#24 Remember, I told you that I was unwell few days back and Milind got me 4 sarees. This is one of them. One more sugarcane saree made from sugarcane fibre. These are amazingly comfortable and light.
Colours and pattern of this saree is like those of sugarcane grass. I feel like I am standing in ‘Ganne ka Khet.’ 🙂

Ganne ka khet (sugarcane farms) reminds me of ganne ka juice (sugarcane juice). My elder daughter, Hita is very fond of sugarcane juice since she was one year old. She would sit quietly with a tiny glass of juice with a straw and enjoy her drink. Hita, as a baby was more close to me than to Milind as he would travel lots that time . When I was carrying my younger one, I wouldn’t step out much due to certain complications in my pregnancy.

One day, in hot summer she went to do her kindergarten shopping with her papa. After finishing her shopping they headed towards the car. There she saw a Juice shop making fresh sugarcane juice. She was tired and thirsty. Out of hesitation and shyness she couldn’t ask Milind directly that she want to have juice rather she said “Papa, aapka gaane ka juice peene ka mann kar raha hai kya? ” (Papa, do you have a urge to drink sugarcane juice?). Milind, without reading anything between the lines, innocently refused. He couldn’t understand, that she want to drink it and is asking indirectly. They both came home without drinking the sugarcane juice.

After coming home, she told me about this incident and Milind overheard our conversation. He felt very guilty and sad that he couldn’t understand child’s mind and words and took them in literal sense.

From then onwards, whenever we go out and if we see sugarcane juice shop, we all make it a point to drink it without asking anyone of us.
That’s the best drink we enjoy as a family as it added more sweetness and understanding in our lives. It brought us more closer to eachother. 🙂
