#58/100

I have always loved the patti work of UP, more than even the chikankari work. I used to have several salwar kameezes with this type of handicraft that I loved.

However in Aligarh, they go a step further to add an amazing touch – te encase little sequins inside the pattis to add a muted shimmer that is so subtle, so discreet and delicate and so beautiful…

Many years ago when I saw some kurtis my sister in law had bought with this work on them, I instantly fell in love and asked my mother in law to get me a saree with this craft from Aligarh, which is the hometown for my inlaws. She got me this beautiful creamy white saree with the pattis in a soft beige and green, with touches of pink.

I have been wanting to wear this saree for years, and especially since the saree pact began I have had this one in mind but couldn’t come up with the right way to wear it. Then today I pulled it out for Eid, for a family photo session with my inlaws, including my sis in law who is visiting from Canada. Worn with the fluted sleeve crop top from yesterday, I thought this saree needs no further adornment or accessories, apart from a smile!
