Day 50. And that’s a big hit…straight over the fielder’s head and over the boundary… And that brings the 50!
Oops, sorry, wrong match…. A quick single and that brings up the 50.
Ever since crossing 45, I had been thinking of what to do for the 50th day. What sari, what occasion? I just couldn’t decide. I had no plans of wearing a sari today, had made up my mind to wait and bring on the milestone with flourish. But when I opened my wardrobe today to pick out a salwar kameez to wear to work, I suddenly felt like wearing a sari. And then I thought, isn’t that what the pact is all about? Why wait for a special date, I could make any date special by wearing a sari. So here I am in a bright yellow kota. This sari is a gift from Sarbaridi Sarbari Sinha. She said it’s from Andhra Pradesh. I wore this sari once before, the day before Holi. That was a day before I joined the pact. I hadn’t even waited to get the blouse made. So eager had I been to wear it. And then after the blouse was stitched, I wore it with another sari (an orange cotton with yellow batik) it matched perfectly.
But today both sari and blouse are together, playing as it were in a team to bring up the 50.
The moment I decided to wear this sari, I also knew I had the perfect opportunity to wear this orange and beige jute set (neckpiece, earrings and jura pin) that my dear friend Shabby Shabanaroze Chowdhury gifted me a few days ago. The bangles are my trusted players from Fab. Old but indispensable.
