Feeling cool enough to beat the heat with this cotton Rajasthani block print saree. It was bought many years ago from the Rajasthan emporium on Baba Kharak singh Marg, Delhi…I used to love that road and the cultural treat of going through each state emporium!

The story here is not so much about the saree, but of the blouse. I had bought a block printed material for a kurti to wear over jeans, but when I took it to the tailor, he said that the width was too narrow for a kurti. I was disappointed but determined to get something made out of it, I asked him to stitch a blouse instead. There was enough material left over to make the bordering and neck-patti for a different kurti, and I got this lovely block print blouse to go with my saree! Hah! you can’t beat the inventiveness of an Indian woman with a piece of cloth:-)
