When I got married, the only responsibility that my father in law demanded that I fulfill was to wear at least once every saree from a collection of 500 that my mom-in-law had left behind. I had promised him then that I would. I love sarees and am very comfortable in them as well. But, I always seemed to fall short of those extra 15 minutes that draping a saree requires. Then, I started a new phase of life in a new line of work. With these new challenges, came two happy additions to my life – a super-vibrant colleague (like an elder sister) and from her, the information about the #100sareepact. This seemed such a wonderful way to express so many things and was the push I needed. I finally unlocked my mom-in-law’s treasure trove and started the pact with a taant dhakai in one of her favourite colours. The look on my father-in-law’s face when I walked out of my room will be incentive enough to wear sarees more often. Babu, this is for you.
