Whenever I look at my big suitcase full of sarees I remember how I wanted to own it since I was a little girl, and now that I have it, it is sitting like a ghost in my closet. I am very particular about what sarees I like to wear, comes from my mother (an Army wife) who always preferred quality over quantity. I chose my own collection of sarees when I got married in January 2014. In the next month, I shifted base with my husband to Melbourne and I had to ignore my traditional saree for a more ‘acceptable’, ‘modern’ and ‘convenient’ dressing style. It is 2015, and I can’t take it anymore. I choose to dress up in my sarees whenever I want to, even if it means on a day I am working from home. The saree I am wearing today reminds me of our post wedding dinners with friends and family back home. It is light, comfortable and makes me feel in my element.
