Mother’s Day was lowkey since the kids were having their unit tests. They had given me a whole lot of handmade cards and Jhilik had even offered to make breakfast for me. But somehow although we had planned to go out for dinner. ..hubby was tied up that day. So yesterday he came back from office and asked us to get ready as he wantef to make up for Mothers day.
So out came this easy to drape purple and magenta striped leheriya with a thin silver border. This one was part of my wedding trousseau and it was included after much discussion since a bengali girl’s tatva (trousseau) those days included silk and taant sarees mostly and any other saree was termed strictly synthetic and not worthy of making it to the bridal trousseau. ..but I had my way and got a bandhani (silk ) and this leheriya included although I am wearing this after years yet it reminded me of the story behind it . And yes…ultimately I have reached double figures.
