Wearing this lovely ‘gajari colored’ (that’s what my mom likes to call it 🙂 ) silk sari with a resham border & pallu for my school friend’s house warming today. My mom had bought this sari for me many years before I got married for a very special occasion & I like the colour so much that I couldn’t leave it behind…
I chose to wear this today cos, it’s again a very special & important day for me. My friend asked me to help out in her preps for the house warming puja… as according to her I’m a Brahmin girl hence allowed to do so (I refuse to follow such norms!!)
I will be doing the very important task of making the Shinni (qualifies for a drink prepared with Maida/wheat flour, bananas, coconut, milk & dry fruits) for Lord Vishnu. There are very specific measurements for the ingredients & one cannot talk while preparing this. Also, I’ll be putting the bengali version of the rangoli which is called ‘alpona’.
Although I’m more of a spiritual person myself & not very religious…but when my friend showed so much trust in me, I couldn’t refuse…also cos it gave me a chance to wear a sari 😀
