I am warning you there are lots of pictures in this post .So , proceed at your own risk !!
The Saree is a very , very light and side Georgette in Rani Pink and Royal Purple .. I have always balked at wearing such bright colours but the Purple matched my conference colours so I had packed it in .
And as the free afternoon after all the post meeting work was taken care of meant I could take Pat around the city I said to myself here is the chance to wear the Pink Purple Statement… On the agenda was Lunch , Golconda Fort and the Falaknuma Palace with Charminar too As you can see the day went into night and with Pat and volunteers Rishi , Vicky and Kalyani Dhake-Bhortake all volunteering to take the pictures with an eagerness and enthusiasm that the Saree Pact seemed to have invoked .
I think this is a good time to tell you the story of Pat and myself . Thelma and Louise . We are soul-sisters for sure and the bonding began more than13 years ago when I joined the Max Foundation . Max was a 14 year old boy who died three years after he was diagnosed with a rare and deadly kind of Leukaemia . He died three years later and in his memory Pat , his step mom , who had cared for him all those years decided to set up something that would help other families cope with the diagnosis of a life threatening illness like cancer . Pat had come to attend the Patient Summit and leaves late tonight going back to Seattle… I am already missing her . We work together and are committed to the welfare of those we work for and our wonderful team that supports us . We work long hard hours our work days overlapping each other , my days into her nights and vice versa ..one night during one of visits to Seattle we both sat and watched Thelma and Louise on TV . Don’t ask us how or why but we did identify ourselves with those two spunky gals and began calling ourselves Thelma and Louise ! A little mad but never ones to back down when the need of the hour is to stand up and serve ! It has been a rewarding ride and we both know it is only with the grit and gumption that T and L displayed can seemingly insurmountable mountains be climbed . We don’t have a Thunderbird , peach coloured or otherwise but do drive a hard bargain when we drive the others around us….
