You’ve heard of the ‪#‎GardenSarees‬ all your life from the Old School Fauji Ladies and you’ve seen them look absolutely elegant in their mostly floral, pastel coloured Chiffon six yards. My mom had some Garden Sarees too, none of them is with her still, I’d want to pick up the tattered ones too otherwise. So when I moved to ‪#‎Mumbai‬ and saw a store at ‪#‎Colaba‬, I just wanted to go in, right then. I was “as pregnant as I could be” then and later had a baby to be taken care of all by own, so sadly The “rIght then” took me almost three years.
When it’s love your better half always manages to notice that gleam in your eyes everytime you see something, want to have it and have no time or opportunity to make it your own. So while I “ooh-ed”, “Aah-ed” and “aww-ed” everytime I crossed that store, my sweetheart got me my “Very First and till date ‘only’ Garden Saree” on our Fourth Wedding Anniversary.
It’s one of those once in a lifetime things also because the saree was an absolute surprise from someone who has never ever discouraged from picking up anything, but has also never ever made an effort to do it himself, for me. Never ever before this and after this too.
So its a special and a truly special one.
This ones a very very light silk in an evergreen combination of beige and lightly printed black paisleys. To begin with I wasn’t very fond of it, frankly, but its grown over me over time not just because its really beautiful but because it just almost wraps itself around in a jiffy.
Absolute winters, February 2015, teaming it up with a woolen top and the pallu around the neck and ready to go!!
