‪#‎100sareepact‬- Wear a saree 100 days in this year, repeats allowed and each time you do you can tell “its” tale, plus when you take on the pleasure you nominate two friends to take it on too. Thanks ‪Anju‬ and ‪‎Ally‬ for birthing this. Glad you came up with reasons going beyond draping the six yards of sheer elegance! My reasons of hopping onto the bandwagon of #100sareepact;
One – I wear a saree at the drop of a hat, reason, no reason, am always ready to drape one.
Here’s my take-
“ Its Saree time when am on cloud Nine, Its Saree time when its not so fine and for all moods in between too, there’s no more perfect drape to wear and whine. Its Saree time all the time!!
Two – It’s let me going to tell tales of each one I wear and oh! how I love telling stories. And ofcourse it’s not just about the story behind a saree, there’s also a story each time you wear it, the why’s, the where’s and the with whom’s.
Three – Each time I tell a tale, am going to live all of that part of the past yet again, another reason to go down the memory lane and it’s always so wonderful travelling back in time.

I began my year 2015 wearing this one. Well, almost. 2nd January.
Chose to team it up with green and coral Pachchi work neckpiece. Felt on top of the world, now ain’t that a perfect start for a year?
Most of all of the oft told tales from my mommie’s days of yore, there’s been a repeated mention of her closest friend Kaushalya Belani, or Kaushi Aunty as we have always known her. My mom and her would pick Kachchi Imlis and devour them together, hide each others secrets, follow fashion and wear similar dresses to college. Kaushi Aunty is always a part of her childhood memories. As always happens , marriage drifts most best friends apart, she got married and moved abroad, my mom got hitched to an Army Man!!
This beautiful off white silk saree was a gift to my mom from Kaushi Aunty, the saree is about 30 yrs old, still, just as beautiful. I have clear memories of my mom wearing this one with a long teardrop pearl string and a Transparent glass with a white etched Queen Victoria pendant at the bottom.
White and Red are two of my all time favourite colours, maybe that’s what made this one, “one of my” (there are PLENTY) favourite ones in her wardrobe. The motifs, the colour combination, the feel, the drape, am in love with all of it. So I begged her to let me have her treasure last year, and like all moms she was only delighted to “Hand over” her memory closet to me.
