7/100 – This saree was purchased in an exhibition in 2006 with my friend Malar Hirudayaraj who bought the same saree in a different colour. Hope she still has it smile emoticon We call this the child protection saree as it has a boy and a girl holding hands. I have matched it with Rudrakshas purchased in Mantralayam as earrings. The blouse is plain with the same design fabric painted on it. The blouse has a very inspiring story behind it. One of my colleagues had a friend whose husband had abandoned her for another woman. She had no source of livelihood and could also not go back to her family as she had married against their wishes. She was skilled in fabric painting so we decided to give her work to keep her going. This was the first piece of work she did for me and soon several others. We passed the word around and soon she was doing well. Today she runs her own boutique and has exhibitions all around India. Happy we were able to lend a hand when it was needed most
