Feels great to not have a neck that will fall off any minute! Back to work after having called in Sick for 1.5 days and feeling good. With me is T, my younger twin, who’s said things like “It’s okay Amma, it’ not meant to be easy always” or “It happens sometimes Amma” or “Why are you talking about this – what is the connection with this and what we are discussing” and “Ssssup Mom” when I call to check after the boys are back home. Why do they grow up so fast? Where did the years fly by? Can I go back in time for a day to cradle him in my arms yet again, or bite those gabbu cheeks for one last time, or have him fall asleep on me? He is the resident Pragmatic Soul, the in-your-face logical kid who’ll hug you when you request for it but do it in a jiffy to go back to what he loves doing most – playing, watching TV or reading. A thorough extrovert, once he decided to tell the Security Guard who was riding up in the lift with us “Bhaiyaa, aapke daanth ache nahin hai. Mumma kehti hai ki roz do baar brush karna chahiye. Aapke daanth dekhiye – peele hain” – as I wished Mother Earth would open up.
The saree is a gift. For a change it is not cotton and I absolutely love the vibrant colours. This is my mahaaa versatile blouse that I’d be lost without! Love that it has orange, red and green and can be worn with just so many sarees.
When I was purchasing the neck piece from the Tibetan Aunty (again!), I was all chatting up with this other lady, who was new in the store. Grinning like an ass, I showed her this, (an only piece) and she happily put it in her basket. My heart sank cos I’d fallen in love with it when I set my eyes on it. I whispered to Aunty that I’d taken it first. She smiled, her wise “I’ll take care of it” smile and very politely told the other customer that I’d chosen it. Wearing it for the first time. One of my many loots from her. The silver earrings are from Fab. The chain that goes up the ears is detachable, but I love wearing it. The malli poo is courtesy my Daai.
