This one is for you girl! Yes – today I have been crazy enough to wear a Coorgi saree to work

Last evening we had a shoot for Heeya where I’d draped the saree in a Coorgi style for the very 1st time; Sandhya, Chinanshu and I had so much fun! Thank you Diya – I just went by what you’d told me some days ago, girl! It is simple to drape and I love the style! But this morning when I was getting ready, I was like, should I just check to ensure that I have the drape right? Come YouTube to the rescue! And I did make an extra round of the fabric last evening  Hopefully the shoot snaps won’t show it – and better late than never!

Here is the story of the saree. My friend and I were planning to meet up at Fab India, she messaged me to say that there is a gorgeous red and blue striped saree. I was like – “Blue and red? Why don’t you just hit me! Who wears blue and red that too in stripes??”. But I saw it and just fell in love with it! It was one of those stunning sarees that I couldn’t take my eyes off.

Shilpa, Azhagi, thanks to you, bindis are almost always red now. And yes – I do own some sleeved blouses, Shubha  This blouse material is a gift from Dilli’s Chandini Chowk. Believe it that I didn’t get it stitched for a very long time. When I finally did, Nita suggested that I get something like a choli done in a princess cut. I had and still have no idea what that meant/means – but I love this!

The earrings are actually part of a giant jhumka that made me feel like my ears would fall off. I requested my goldsmith to take it off, add hooks and make it one that I can wear without wincing in pain and fearing for my ears. The selfie has a pendant which I thought was too much, but was too rushed to take off and do another selfie, this morning. So the full length snap has the neck piece without the pendant which is pretty, but was too much for this look. Less is more works perfectly for me

On the left of the collage are pictures taken with me wearing the same saree (with a more jhataaang yellow gold blouse) on Amma’s house warming ceremony. This day was very very special for us, since it took Amma a long time to get her independent house remodelled to make a 4 level apartment with 7 houses. We lost my Appa in 2010 and he never lived to see this dream come true. With me is my older twin Jai. My younger twin Rishab couldn’t make it cos he was down with fever. A day where a long cherished dreams came true, a day that Appa didn’t live to see, a day where I missed him so much, where Amma and I remembered and reminisced so many beautiful facets of him…..it will be etched in my memory forever.
