This cotton saree I presented to my mother
Today, I have been surrounded by love. I’ve felt it right through the day.
This cotton saree I presented to my mother. It’s got a self print and khadi work on the Pallu, in an unusual white on white.
Ma didn’t wear it for very long, so I grabbed it back to keep it. You can be cheeky like that with Moms.
The blouse fabric was presented by my friend Kusum who debuts in the #100sareepact today. She bought Neha Mathur, and me, a piece each and demanded we stitch and wear them together. So we did !
Last year when we were practicing rigorously for our Oxfam 100 km, we would stop by my office for nariyal paani at a lady’s cart. She is a Muslim from Hassan, and speaks beautiful Urdu. She waved as the car passed by so I stopped to say hello and bought a few coconuts for office.
“Achche lag rahe hain aap. Alag bhi. Subah ko running karte hain, aur din mein saree ? Achcha laga “, she said. She has been in a saree everytime I have seen her, morning or night.
Then off I went for a late lunch which turned out to become a #sareedate in that town neighboring Bangalore – Whitefield.
Heard saree stories about family and chance meetings and friends.
So many stories today about this saree, the past & the present.
Hope to see you at a #sareedate soon. Cheers !
