Here is my little tribute to the weaving traditions of Coimbatore. This saree is a soft silk saree woven in the sleepy hamlet of Sirumugai. These soft silk sarees are so light and airy to wear and also drape well. In weaving traditions they say that each weaver knows the where his wares will reach, so now they tag each saree with a photograph of the weaver so that there is a bond with the wearer. But this is only now, not when I bought it a few years ago. Incidentally this coop society has won accolades for weaving all the 1330 couplets of Thirukkural on a saree. So here is 2/100
