Wedding in Isolation
Monday evening I attended the wedding of a colleague/friend. The couple has been dating for several years and finally came out of the closet with their wonderful announcement.
This traditional and colourful ceremony took place at a stown-away resort located off the NICE highway in Bangalore. It was intimate and homely, just the families and about a dozen of us close friends. The marriage was performed in the Bihari tradition with baraat and dancing and the bride being welcomed walking under a decorated jhaalar.
I chose to wore a silk sari for this occasion. It is mustard yellow with light zari work at the bottom that grows to dense work all over a multi-coloured pallu. I’m glad I wore this because it described well the modern flair of the couple mingling with traditional rituals.
