A Bengali whose only current connection to the East is a wardrobe full of sarees hopes to re-establish her roots soon… This bright Fanta orange saree was a gift from my pishi (my father’s sister in Kolkata) when I was very young and showed signs of saree love. The eye-catching color is offset by black and gold weaves. It has been one of my favorites since it reminds me of summer – mangoes, long drawn out sunsets and crisp cotton feels. It is paired with a black & white printed cotton blouse home-stitched by my mother who is a constant accomplice in this saree-obsession.
