Meetings are often the opportunity for me to wear my sarees. I was asked why these posts. Stirred by a conversation on how sarees can be considered sustainable clothing, of course looking at origins and methods of production. This saree was purchased circa 1997-98. It was a year when I walked into the shop and there were just these cream colour based silk sarees with prints and pallus of different colours available. Not exactly my first choice of colours. But this saree has geometric prints in burnt umber and an extremely richly designed pallu. It’s hard to look at this saree and think of it as being almost 18 years old. The print and the colour combo gives it a modern, chipper look. Worn on Jan 12‬ Photo credit: Sai Jyothi Racherla
