8-100 – Day 6 Ganesh Chaturti

Nakul – Another name of Lord Shiva. Or the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Nakul – The fourth of the Pandava brothers from the Great Indian Epic, Mahabharatha, twin to Sahadev.
Nakul – He who is most handsome in his lineage.
Nakul – The skilled swordsman and horseman, versed in every question of morality and profit, endowed with high wisdom.

Nakul, the new addition to our family, son to my niece Radhika Viswas’s and Vivek Chikballapur.

With this double reason to celebrate this auspicious day, the choice of saree was no choice at all. It is a gift I received from her parents for her wedding. Thank you Chitra Keshavan Viswas … you always know what I would like best! As of this wearing this saree becomes doubly precious.

A stunning black kanjeevaram silk with a self-weave chequered pattern all over and a slender “ribbon border” in gold, this saree is elegance personified. A saree so beautifully simple could be enhanced by any elaborate jewellery. Yet, I chose to fall back on my Maasai favourites – brass and black beads. The only concession to glitter are the stones adorning the lac bangle set. This set is part of my lifelong collection of bangles. It is made from lac – a resin like substance obtained from trees, I believe! They were a “I am back home” gift from my father Kg Prasad after an official trip to Benares, more than 3 decades ago. I love the black and gold combination!
